New Product: Lightweight Cable Assemblies for Virtual Reality Applications (VRs)

TE Connectivity (TE), a global leader in connectivity and sensing, today announced the virtual reality (VR) cable assembly product line. Compared to other solutions on the market, this component accelerates the time-to-market of your customers and delivers even better performance. TE's VR cable assemblies provide a robust platform design solution that can be customized to meet the diverse needs of VR solution providers and help them bring their products to market faster. TE not only offers complete cable assemblies and high-speed sockets, but also provides plug modules for customers who purchase cables from other vendors. The compact socket of the assembly saves valuable printed circuit board (PCB) space in the headset and uses an equalization amplifier in the connector to allow for longer cable lengths for smaller-diameter cables while reducing cable weight.

The VR cable assemblies provided by TE are specifically designed for VR applications and are proven to deliver uninterrupted signal transmission. The product uses HDMI 1.4 connectors and USB 3.0 connectors, as well as optional DC power supplies for data rates up to 8 Gbps. High-speed I / O sockets also support higher data rates (up to 40 Gbps) for future product upgrades. TE's comprehensive R & D engineering capabilities and application knowledge can help engineers work together to design custom solutions while minimizing costs with common components.

Rick Yang, TE Product Manager, said: "VR startups must bring their unique products to market quickly, and TE's standard VR cable assemblies make it possible to leverage common components to optimize engineering resources, reduce costs and accelerate time to market." At the same time, TE's comprehensive R & D engineering capabilities and application knowledge help these VR startups and developers design custom solutions that turn their innovative ideas into reality.
